Two smaller Omarchy changes from Friday that are worth knowing about, both rounded up in tcballard’s “Today in Omarchy” for October 23.
A less scary installer default
Emir’s change, merged into Quattro development, makes the installer list internal drives first. If the disk you pick already has partitions, it now defaults to Free space install instead of wiping the whole drive. That’s the option the manual already tells dual-booters to use: shrink Windows first, leave unallocated space, and Omarchy goes into that space with LUKS encryption on its own partition.
Good change. The worst install mistake is picking the wrong disk and nuking it, especially a USB stick or external drive that happened to show up first. Defaulting to the non-destructive choice is just smart.
Orb 0.2.0
tcballard’s Orb plugin got a visual editor. You can drag to edit five to eight shortcuts, there’s a Files wheel, and Ctrl+Z undoes shortcut edits. It installs with:
omarchy plugin add https://github.com/tcballard/omarchy-plugin-orb.git --enable
Or go through Super + Space, Setup, Plugins, Add. Fair warning, straight from the Omarchy Archive: third-party plugins run unsandboxed, so read the repo before you enable it.
Also in the same roundup: Prime’s daily QA is now running against nightly builds every morning (one test so far), and the notification-panel removal we already covered got merged.
Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
