OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra, BleepingComputer reports: a faster, cheaper model for computer use, visual reasoning, coding and everyday work like forms, video edits and technical drawings.
The numbers
- API pricing: $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output, 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
- More than 3x faster on tasks than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, per OpenAI.
- On Agents’ Last Exam, 15 points better than GPT-5.6 Terra at medium effort.
- Error rate at low effort fell from 53.6% to 16.7%, per OpenAI’s internal benchmark.
My take
Cheap and fast is what agents need most. Vendor benchmarks are vendor benchmarks, so I’d test it on your own work before switching.
