Cursor can now build and deploy live apps from a prompt, and I’m thinking about trying it for one tiny internal tool. This is a plan I’m considering, not something I’ve shipped.
What I’m thinking about
- One small tool: something like a checklist or simple dashboard, not a production customer app
- No real secrets in the prompt: use throwaway test credentials, and only add real ones through Cursor’s secret flow if I go further
- Read the security review: don’t publish until the checks pass, and keep the share list to me first
- Tear-down plan: unpublish and delete if it’s not useful
Open questions
- How painful is iterating after the first deploy?
- Can I keep the database disposable?
Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.
My take
A live link from a prompt is powerful. Start tiny and keep the blast radius tiny too.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
