Register Readers Want the UK’s Space Cleanup Mission Named ‘Binface’

The UK Space Agency asked the public to name its Active Debris Removal Mission, led by ClearSpace UK, which aims to pull two UK-registered satellites out of low Earth orbit. The Register asked its readers. You can guess how that went.

The contenders

  • Binny McBinFace and SpaceyMcSpaceFace took the early lead, in proud Boaty McBoatface tradition.
  • Also nominated: Dusty Bin, SHART (Satellite Harvesting And Re-entry Tug), Project TIDY (Targeted Intervention for Debris in the Yard) and “Prime Binister.”
  • The winner among Reg readers: Binface, a nod to novelty political candidate Count Binface.

My take

Space junk is a real problem, and somebody has to be the orbital trash truck. If it flies as Binface, I’m buying the shirt. My money is on TIDY being the one that actually wins.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
