Pastor Mike Signorelli’s new book, The Unoffendable Heart, came out Oct 20 with a foreword by John Bevere and hit No. 9 on the Publishers Weekly bestseller list.
The message
Charisma’s write-up opens with Signorelli on a Manhattan sidewalk, fists clenched over something he can’t even remember now. One small moment had hit years of unresolved hurt. His point is that offense works the same way in everyone, and it costs people the relationships they were meant to keep. Keeping score becomes its own kind of prison. He’s also clear that forgiving someone doesn’t mean you have to keep a relationship with everyone who hurt you. Boundaries are still allowed.
My take
Bitterness feels like protection, but it’s a cage. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger… Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:31-32). We’ve been forgiven of so much. Let the Holy Spirit pull the old splinter out. Freedom is on the other side.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
