What’s New in Claude Code 2.1.310: Monitor Tool Everywhere and Gateway Fixes

Claude Code 2.1.310 is out. Here’s what stood out to me from the release notes.

What’s new

  • Monitor tool everywhere: the Monitor tool and plugin monitors now work on Bedrock, Vertex and Foundry, and when telemetry or nonessential traffic is off. Long foreground sleeps are blocked there too.
  • Gateway compatibility: if a gateway or compatible server rejects the effort beta value or mid-conversation system messages, Claude Code now retries without them.
  • Cleanup fix: background cleanup no longer deletes recent files like pasted images when cleanupPeriodDays is set very high.
  • Compaction: after a “Prompt is too long” error, compaction no longer keeps too much dense text like base64 or SVG.
  • Permissions: file-read prompts now show where a symlink points, and on Windows some hooks no longer let tool calls through when Git Bash is missing.
  • Linux sandbox: /sandbox now names Ubuntu’s AppArmor user-namespace restriction, and how to lift it, when it stops bubblewrap.
  • Cloud sessions: Enterprise custom roles can now control access to cloud sessions and Remote Control.

My take

The symlink fix and the Windows hook fix are the security wins here. And if you run Claude Code through a proxy or gateway, the auto-retry should save you some weird errors. Update with your usual method.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
