Ikey Doherty, the guy behind Solus and Serpent OS and a former Clear Linux developer at Intel, announced Pavee OS: his “opinionated daily-driver desktop,” built on top of his Barney distro tooling.
The idea
Barney is his attempt to show how to build a modern distro “properly.” Pavee flips the usual relationship. In his words: “build a reusable, modern ecosystem that others can share without forcing a particular distro’s design decisions on every project.” Pavee is where his own preferences live, separate from the shared infrastructure. Development is just starting on GitHub.
My take
Ikey has a track record of shipping things people actually use, so I’ll be watching the repo. Nothing to install yet, just a project worth following.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
