At a Romans conference in Dallas, N.T. Wright said something that stuck with me, The Christian Post reports: “Let’s be quite clear: glory does not mean going to Heaven. It means becoming fully human, to share God’s redemptive rule.”
What he means
Wright ties the “hope of the glory of God” in Romans 5:2 to Psalm 8, where people are “crowned with glory and honor” and put in charge of God’s creation as His image-bearers, to make His world flourish. We traded that glory away for idols. In Christ it’s restored, so we “reign in life” (Romans 5:17). He quoted Irenaeus: the glory of God is a human being fully alive.
My take
This is where the Holy Spirit comes in. Romans 5:5 says hope doesn’t disappoint “because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.” Glory isn’t just a someday thing. The Spirit is already making us more like Jesus, “with ever-increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). So don’t just wait for heaven. Ask Him to make you fully alive today, right where He’s put you.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
