Ally Yost wrote a piece at RELEVANT about something a lot of us do: letting other people decide what we’re worth.
Her story
She used to feel valuable when someone chose her and worthless when someone rejected her. Breakups and betrayals felt like “evidence in a case against my worth.” When her social media grew, she’d read every comment as if it had the authority to tell her who she was. Her point: people are inconsistent, and “even someone who genuinely loves us can’t be responsible for defining us.”
My take
Your worth was settled at the cross, not in the comments. “You were bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20). “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1). And the Holy Spirit keeps telling you so on the inside (Romans 8:16). Next time rejection starts building its case, let the Spirit have the last word.
God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
