Yesterday, the first Sunday of November, was the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. The Voice of the Martyrs built this year’s prayer video around Bassam, a former Muslim on the Arabian Peninsula, The Christian Post reports.
His story
After he came to Christ, his father disowned him, his wife put him out and rarely lets him see his daughters, her brothers beat him, and he was jailed. He kept sharing anyway. He gave his sister a Bible, and one of his daughters now follows Jesus.
“Once I found Christ, I could not stay silent,” he said. “No matter what happens to me, I will tell people about Jesus.”
VOM’s Todd Nettleton said the point of the video is to give us a real picture of who we’re praying for, and to keep praying all year, not just one Sunday.
My take
That’s Holy Spirit boldness. It’s the same thing that hit Peter and John: “we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). Then the church prayed for more boldness, and the place shook (Acts 4:29-31).
Pray for Bassam, for his daughters and his family, and for every believer paying a price to share Jesus. And ask for a little of that boldness for yourself.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
