Kumasi Hosts the First Love Ghana Festival: The Gospel, Plus Eye Screenings and Prison Visits

Kumasi, Ghana is hosting its first city-wide Love Ghana Festival this weekend, October 24 and 25, at the Race Course. Graphic Online calls it the largest evangelistic campaign the city has seen, with Evangelist Andrew Palau and his wife Wendy as the lead speakers.

What’s happening

  • It’s a joint effort. The Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Seventh-day Adventists and other church bodies all signed on.
  • Outreach goes well past the stage: visits to prison inmates, orphanages and street children, free eye screenings, sports tournaments and live gospel music.
  • At the center of it is the message of hope in Jesus Christ, with ministers from the US, UK and across Africa joining in.

My take

This is what it looks like when the church stops arguing and starts reaping. Jesus prayed in John 17 that we’d be one “that the world may believe.” Unity isn’t the goal by itself. It’s what clears the way for a harvest.

I also love that they’re bringing the love of Christ to the people nobody else is visiting. Prisoners. Orphans. Kids on the street. Jesus said, “I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” Let’s pray for a big harvest in Kumasi this weekend, and for the follow-up afterward, so new believers get planted in local churches and grow.

Have a blessed day! And Happy Hacking!
