DHH announced Nov. 5 that Marcelo Alcantara and Birk Skyum are joining Omarchy Core—the people driving Omarchy past x86.
Who’s who
- Marcelo coordinated the Omarchy M native Mac installer that shipped in 4.5: download an app (or
brew install omacom/mac/omarchy) on M1/M2/M3/Neo. The team is already pushing M4/M5/M6. - Birk is coordinating Snapdragon bring-up after upstream work in Arch Linux ARM, libcamera, PipeWire, systemd and the kernel. 4.5 already shows his fingerprints: fewer pointless reboot prompts, cameras at login, ARM-aware app offers.
My take
Shipping Apple Silicon install in two months, then aiming for “every Snapdragon just works,” is the pace Linux desktop needs.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
