Meta acquired Conductor, the startup behind a macOS app that runs multiple coding agents in isolated copies of a Git project, The Register reports. No price was announced.
What it means for users
- Conductor Cloud, its hosted agent sandbox, goes read-only Nov 13 and shuts down Nov 20. Conductor expects to offer a way to move cloud workspaces to local machines
- The Mac app keeps working for a few months, but in early 2027 it stops getting new models and critical fixes
Meta also has its own Muse Code agent, and this follows smaller buys like Moltbook, Assured Robot Intelligence and Stilla.
My take
If you use Conductor Cloud, export your workspaces now. Another reminder that local-first tools are the ones you get to keep.
God Bless, and Happy hacking!
