OpenCode 2.2.5: Worktree Shortcuts and a Percentage Compaction Buffer

OpenCode 2.2.5 follows 2.2.4, which brought persistent terminals and experimental artifacts. Here’s only what’s new in 2.2.5.

What’s new

  • Worktree shortcuts: Ctrl+Alt+O (⌘⌥O on macOS) picks a worktree, Ctrl+Alt+B picks its base branch, and Ctrl+Shift+X toggles shell mode.
  • Percentage compaction buffer: "compaction": { "buffer": "20%" } in opencode.json keeps a share of each model’s context window free, so one setting fits small and large models.
  • Send a single quote and comment from the quote popup.
  • Clearer errors when read hits a missing folder or edit can’t find its text.
  • MCP servers sending messages over 10 MiB no longer get disconnected, and LiteLLM context errors now trigger compaction.

My take

The percentage buffer is a small but smart fix if you bounce between local models with tiny context windows and big cloud ones.

Review before you install: read the release notes yourself, back up your config, and try new versions somewhere you can afford to break first.

God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
