Update: This follows my Omarchy 4.5 RC1 post. RC2 landed on GitHub last night.
What stands out
- F1 installer: unpacks a prebuilt root image and adds your machine’s packages on top, instead of installing about 940 packages one by one.
- New default apps: Hype (slides from one Markdown file, exports to PDF or PowerPoint), Signed (sign PDFs, replaces Xournal++), Disktree (a treemap of what’s filling your disk) and Monologue (one-key camera recording). Omasnap takes over screenshots.
- Quiet boot: Limine waits 1 second instead of about 6. Press any key during boot for the menu, or set your own
timeoutin/boot/limine.conf. - Shortcut changes: Calculator, Activity, Network and the notification keys moved, and new defaults like Super+Q, Super+A and Super+M could collide with your own bindings. Read the breaking changes before you update.
My take
It’s a release candidate, and the notes say to expect bugs. Try it with Update > Channel > RC on a test machine or one with a snapshot you know how to roll back. My RC1 how-to still applies.
