Answered Prayer in Sudan: A Pastor’s Son Walks Out of Prison, but Keep Praying

Some good news from the persecuted church. International Christian Concern says Amin Ismail was released from Kobar Prison in Khartoum on Oct 23 after more than a year behind bars.

What happened

He was arrested in July 2025, the day after he came back to the capital to visit his wife. ICC ties it to years of pressure on his father, Pastor Ismail Azzaz, who fled Sudan after refusing to hand church land over to the state. Courts kept finding Amin innocent, and he stayed locked up anyway.

“I know it was the Lord who opened the door,” he said. “Please keep praying for me and my family.”

Why it’s not over

He’s still in Khartoum, and ICC says people tried to arrange his release so he could be killed outside the prison. His father is still in exile.

My take

Prayer works. Thank God for this one, then keep going. Pray for safe passage out of the capital for Amin and his wife, for his father, and for the Sudanese churches still fighting to keep their property. “Remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison” (Hebrews 13:3).

God Bless, and Happy hacking!
