LXQt 2.5 Drops Its Last LXDE Dependency

LXQt 2.5 is out, Phoronix reports.

  • Targets Qt 6.10 and newer
  • No more menu-cache, its last LXDE dependency, replaced with LXQt’s own faster code
  • QTerminal and QTermWidget get background image modes, a visual bell, silence notifications and Shift+click selection

My take

LXQt came from merging Razor-qt and LXDE, so cutting the last LXDE tie is a nice milestone. Still a great lightweight desktop for older hardware.

God Bless, and Happy hacking!
