OpenAI Doubles ChatGPT Pro Limits After Backlash, and Codex Users Win

OpenAI reversed course fast on this one.

What changed

OpenAI had planned to cut the included usage for Pro 200 subscribers after Oct 29 while keeping the price at $200 a month. After pushback, Tibo, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Codex lead on X, announced: “We are doubling all usage limits for all Pro 100/200/500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today.” Work and Codex share those allowances, so Codex users get the most out of this. Extended limits for Dots, OpenAI’s always-on assistants, also stay, and Dot usage stays separate from your default usage. OpenAI still isn’t publishing exact numbers.

My take

Good outcome, and proof that loud, polite feedback works. I’d still like actual numbers so people can plan their agent work instead of guessing.

God Bless, and May the Source Be with You!
