System76 is teasing the Thelio Prime, a small AMD-powered Linux desktop that launches November 18.
The specs so far
- 11 liters, with separate thermal chambers for the CPU and GPU.
- AMD Ryzen 9000-series CPUs, and Radeon integrated graphics or AMD/NVIDIA discrete cards.
- Up to 96GB of DDR5 and 8TB of NVMe.
- Chassis built and systems assembled at System76’s Colorado facility.
My take
That’s the sweet spot for me: small enough for the desk, big enough to cool and upgrade, unlike a lot of sealed mini PCs. A Ryzen 9000 box with 96GB is also a nice local-AI and homelab machine. I’ll wait for pricing and benchmarks.
God Bless, and Use the Source!
